To sell real estate in Minnesota, you must have a license. An applicant has to:

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Complete 90 hours of licensing education
  3. Have a passing score of 75 on each section of the salesperson's exam
  4. Submit your license application to the Department of Commerce within one year of passing the exam.  It must be signed by your employing broker and have the license fee attached to it.

If you currently have a real estate license in another state, are looking to get back into the business after some time away or are an attorney, contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

The Salesperson applicant must be affiliated with a licensed Minnesota Broker. The Salesperson must remain affiliated with a licensed Minnesota Broker to maintain an active license and can only work for one broker at a time. There are no residency requirements and you do not have to have a high school diploma or college degree.
